Fernando Morais was born in Sao Paulo Brazil on February 14th 1966. He
began his advanced musical studies with Maestro Roberto Farias. Mr. Morais
has played French Horn in several professional orchestras in Brazil and has
participated in many festivals and master classes, he achieved his bachelor of
music from the Mozarteum University in Sao Paulo Brazil.
In 1992 he won a scholarship from the Vitae Foundation to study French Horn
abroad in the USA for two years with David Jolley and Chamber Music with
Bert Lucarelli at the Hart School CT.
In 1997 he received 1st place in the 2nd Concurso de musica de camera de
Buenos Aires Argentina. He has been a member of the Sao Paulo Symphony
Band and traveled to Schadming Austria to perform at the WASBE conference.
In 2000 Mr. Morais won the auditions for the National Theatre Symphony
Orchestra in Brasilia and in 2001 at the Brasilia Music School. While in
Brasilia, Mr. Morais started his career as a composer and in April of 2003 he
won 2nd place at the Concurso de composer- instrumental, SESC Brasilia then
in November 2003 he won 1st place at the Concurso Nacional de composes,
Clâudio Santoro from Brasilia University.
Mr. Morais has had many of his works played in many parts of the works
including Germany, Spain, Argentina, Romania and all regions of Brazil. His
discography includes more than forty pieces of music for various ensembles,
symphonic bands, symphonic orchestras, chamber orchestras and string
orchestras. He is currently finishing his “First Brazilian Method For French
Horn”, giving emphasis to native folk music and the rhythms of Brazil. Besides
being a horn player, arranger and composer, Mr. Morais also conducts a brass
ensemble as well as other ensembles.
